I'm going to ride my bike across Montana in the summer of 2015 and possibly 2016 to collect signatures to get CI-111, the Constitutional Initiative to decriminalize cannabis in Montana, on the ballot in 2016. That's roughly 50,000 signatures and 1,134 miles in roughly 20 days. Students for Sensible Drug Policy is already involved at the local chapter level, meaning I'll have places to stay in Missoula and Bozeman, and I'd like you guys to be involved, too. If I can meet with like-minded people in the towns I plan to stop, they can promote the event so signature gathering can be quick and efficient. It would also be nice to have hubs to pick up gear, whether it be fresh laundry, food, or gear. I plan to give away my shirts to people I feel are deserving in order to lighten the load and not force me to carry dirty clothes. I have the trip mapped out, and have a few maybes from friends I think will be interested in at least part of the ride. I'll also be posting video, photos, and blogs from the road to keep people updated on the journey and how the petition is coming along. Any help I can get, financial or otherwise, would be fantastic. I'll need to pay for food, but I plan to camp or stay with friends most nights. This is a cost-effective way to get our initiative on the ballot in 2016, and could be done in just 20 days. The media attention will be insane in all the cities I stop as long as we get the word out, and I assure you, we will. Let me know in what ways NORML would be able to make this happen.
